Theme Park News

Universal Orlando cannot be stopped! The Orlando theme park is changing things up once again with the addition of new midway games coming to the Jurassic Park themed areas of Islands of Adventure!

For months the midway games addition had just been a rumor but back in May the rumors were officially confirmed by a new permit that was filed by the Universal Orlando Resort titled “Project JP Games.” The job mentioned replacing a large area of sidewalk and some landscaping areas to build a new 1,044 square-foot building area. According to the rumor, the existing midway games of the Lost Continent will be removed to open up the area, as it currently gets pretty congested.

We’re not quite sure what will happen with the existing games in the remains of the Lost Continent but there is a chance these games will be removed to make room for another future project.

Other rumors are already swirling that in addition to the new midway games, Islands of Adventure is also planning a new family coaster for the piece of land. But is it true? We’re not sure since there have always been rumors about cool new rides for Jurassic Park over the years including a wooden coaster, mine trains, Flying coasters, flat rides, and even a Mr. DNA dark ride to take over the Discovery Center building inspired by the one in the movie.

Stay tuned for more details about the new midway games in the Jurassic Park area. In the meantime you can experience the rest of Universal’s many changes and additions like the new Transformers: The Ride 3D.

In just over a month of the 3D ride being open, Transformers: The Ride 3D has welcomed a million riders! If the new attraction continues to go at that pace it could top the initial surge for Forbidden Journey at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure. The only other ride at Universal Orlando that boasted one million riders in its short time of being open was the Simpsons Ride in 2008.

And as if that news doesn’t make you want to head to Universal this weekend maybe this will – you can now enjoy a Krusty Burger and Duff’s beer with Homer and crew at the new Springfield area in the park. Springfield’s Fast Food Boulevard opened just a month ago and just like Transformers: The Ride 3D it’s already a new hotpot in the park. But now guests can hang out at Duff Gardens, Lard Lad Donuts and more with the latest expansion to Springfield now open.
