It’s about to get really cold at SeaWorld Orlando. In the spring of 2013 the aquatic theme park will take guests to the bottom of the world to the coldest and windiest place on Earth where ice is more than 9,000-feet thick and the only creatures that habitat the place are penguins. That’s right, SeaWorld Orlando is heading to Antarctica and they’re inviting you along for a one-of-a-kind journey into the empire of penguins.
SeaWorld’s newest attraction is a first-of-its-kind family adventure combining state-of-the-art technology with closer-than-ever animal encounters for a ride that will allow guests to experience Antarctica as if they were really standing on the frozen ice of the coldest continent in the world. Riders will encounter real sights, sounds, encounters and even a little drama of the often times dangerous environment of this frozen place, all through the eyes of a penguin!Antarctica – Empire of the Penguin will follow one young Gentoo penguin as he leads adventurers on an exciting journey through the dangers and beauty of the icy waters of Antarctica. Along the way guests will get closer than ever before to real-life penguins, including Gentoos, Rockhoppers, Adelies and Kings with encounters that will have never been experienced in any theme park or zoo in the world.
And by immersing guests in this chilling world of penguins, Antarctica – Empire of the Penguins will be the coldest theme park attraction in the world! To give you an idea of just how cold, a penguin’s habitat typically stays in the low 30 degrees to provide the ultimate comfort for the colony. Brr! We’re not sure if the ride will actually be as cold as 30 degrees, but it’s still bound to be a chilly one.
Antarctica – Empire of the Penguin is just one part of a new Antarctica area SeaWorld is developing. The new themed land is the biggest of any expansion at a SeaWorld or Busch Gardens park and will also include a penguin habitat, gift shop, and restaurant.
