We all know that Central Florida is known for its world-class theme parks. From the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort and Sea World Orlando, you could visit a different theme park every day of your next Sunshine State vacation. However, stocking your family vacation full of long days in theme parks can also be very tiring, and it’s important to note that there are lots of other family fun options away from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

Besides the theme parks, some of the most popular family-oriented Orlando attractions feature activities that take advantage of Central Florida’s year-round warm climate. Activities such as air boat tours through the headwaters of the Florida Everglades, a speedboat adventure tour in St. Petersburg, Fla. and the Coco Key Water Park are popular, or you can enjoy water sports on your own on some of Central’s Florida’s most beautiful lakes at Buena Vista Watersports or Sammy Duvall’s Watersports.  Other top names in family fun in Orlando include the Florida Aquarium, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, Gatorland, the Kennedy Space Center and a plethora of options of the tourist-friendly International Drive, like WonderWorks, Titanic The Experience and Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Orlando. If you’re looking for something more thrilling, try a hot air balloon ride, indoor skydiving at iFly or exotic driving and racing experiences at Daytona International Speedway or the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

If you take advantage of one of the aforementioned activities during the day, your family fun can also stretch into the night with one of Orlando’s famous dinner shows. Medieval Times tells the tale of King Phillippe as you join his royal table. The Pirates Dinner Adventure and the Treasure Tavern Dinner Show make for a swashbuckling good time for the entire family, or you could laugh it up all night long with the Outta Control Comedy Dinner Show inside WonderWorks Orlando. Or, if it’s mystery that you’re after, check out the Sleuths Mystery Dinner Show, where you get to be part of the show to help solve the crime! There is a show for everyone, so be sure to include one – or more – of these dinner shows in Orlando on your next vacation’s itinerary!

Whether your next trip to Central Florida includes an itinerary full of visits to the local theme parks or not, be sure to check out more of what Orlando has to offer– you just might be surprised at how much fun your entire family can have!
