Top Things to Do

Top Floats Universal OrlandoUniversal Studios has been taking guests to the streets of the Big Easy for its annual Mardi Gras celebration for a couple of weeks now and the results have been non-stop partying, parades and fun! That’s because just like during the real festival, the streets of Universal Studios are filled with music from real New Orleans musicians and singers, mouthwatering Cajun dishes, live concerts from the hottest artists out there today and of course plenty of beads! But there is one thing that really makes you feel like you’re partying on Bourbon Street – the parade!

This year’s Mardi Gras parade theme is “Colorful Cultures Around the World” and its taking guests to some of the most exotic locations you may ever visit. To ensure guests experience the many different cultures from around the world, Universal Studios has added four new floats that will transport you to these faraway places.

First up is the Elegance of India float. This gorgeous float celebrates the magic of Bollywood with vibrant blues, pinks, greens, purples, oranges and reds; hypnotic dancers and exotic fabrics. Adorned with a giant elephant with glowing green eyes, tigers and plenty of beads wrapped around this float offers up a unique look inside the elegance of India while fitting in perfectly with the show-stopping fun of Mardi Gras.

The Chinese New Year float celebrates the start of the Chinese New Year with traditional paper lanterns and a huge dragon made up of bright yellows, greens, reds, blues and purples. The detail on this float is incredible and will certainly make you feel like you’re celebrating The Year of the Snake right on the streets of Universal Studios.

Pay homage to the Mexican holiday, “Mexican Day of the Dead” with this fascinating new float. Complete with a giant skeletal bride and groom, sugar skulls a light fog trail and even more vibrant colors, the Mexican Day of the Dead float is hard to miss and one you certainly won’t want to!

And since it is Mardi Gras it’s only fitting that Universal has added a Music of New Orleans float to it’s new float lineup. This intricate float is a salute to the influence jazz has had on New Orleans with a giant saxophone on the side a “Bourbon Street Jazz Club” on top and gorgeous ladies in masks tossing out beads. The entire Music of New Orleans float has been designed to look like Bourbon Street.

Also, returning this year are the popular Gator, Riverboat and King and Queen floats.
