Top Things to Do

Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon is one of the best attractions durring Summer at Walt Disney WorldSummer is just on the horizon and with that comes some sweltering temperatures and steamy days. Thankfully, all four of Walt Disney World’s ® parks and its two water parks offer some great rides that’ll keep you cool and refreshed throughout your visit. Here are the top summer rides at Walt Disney World ®:

Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom ®): One of Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides, Splash Mountain is pretty packed on any given day, but during the summer months the splashy ride is especially crowded. That’s because Splash Mountain offers both an indoor air-conditioned section of the ride and a few cool splashes of water, especially the giant one at the end as you plummet to the bottom of the refreshing pond below.

Kali River Rapids (Disney’s Animal Kingdom ®): Take a white water adventure down the turbulent rapids of the Chakranadi River and experience a soaked-to-the-bone thrill ride as gushing geysers, refreshing waterfalls and choppy waters fill your inner tube for the ultimate cool down. It may not be what you want on a November afternoon but in July you’ll welcome the chilly water that Kali River Rapids thrusts your way!

Shark Reef (Typhoon Lagoon): First of all, Shark Reef at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon ® is technically not a ride but an underwater adventure and for that reason alone it’s made our list. As an added bonus to being underwater and letting guests cool off in the reef’s icy waters, this attraction lets swimmers get an up-close-and-personal look at real sea life including fish, rays and a few sharks as you snorkel alongside the beautiful creatures.

Summit Plummet (Blizzard Beach): If you aren’t afraid of heights Summit Plummet is the ultimate summer ride at Walt Disney World ®. Not only does it give you your fill of splashes but it’s by far one of the most thrilling rides in the entire park. The highest and fastest ride in Blizzard Beach and the world for that matter, Summit Plummet will take you on a near vertical plunge down a 360-foot long flume reaching speeds of up to 60 miles per hour! You certainly won’t be hot when you finish.  Even if you are, you won’t care because you’ll just be glad you survived the plunge!
