Top Things to Do

OFT_L_Walt_Disney_World_MagicBands_FastPass_Plus_3-12-14Walt Disney World ® introduced its FASTPASS ride reservation system in 1999 as a way to regulate the wait times at some of the park’s most popular attractions. In the 15 years that the FASTPASS system has been around not much has changed… until now. If you’ve been following Disney’s ® latest changes you know the FASTPASS system is currently undergoing a massive renovation that will make the system much more efficient than it already is. Orlando Fun Tickets is so excited about the new system that we’ve come up with a list of the top best things about the new FASTPASS:

FASTPASS+ - This is the new “online” attraction reservation system replacing the paper tickets for the FASTPASS. In order to use the FASTPASS+ reservation system you must have a plastic park ticket or MagicBand. We like this because it eliminates having to keep a hold of yet another piece of paper during your visit.

MagicBands – With a new system comes new gadgets and that is exactly what MagicBands are. A part of MyMagic +, the MagicBands are a combination of website, mobile-phone app and wristband that allow guests to manage their Disney ® vacations from home and while at the park. Just one of MagicBands’ many features includes making ride reservations in advance of your visit. You can then check-in for the ride you scheduled via FASTPASS+. When you are at the ride you simply wave your wristband at the FASTPASS+ return stanchion. The MagicBands are currently only being offered to Walt Disney World Resort ® guests.

FASTPASS+ Kiosks- If you are not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort ® you’ll need to visit a FASTPASS+ Kiosk. Remember, Disney ® is getting rid of paper FASTPASSES so these kiosks are the alternative to those. The kiosks will give you a return time that will be directly associated with your park admission ticket. To get into the ride or show at the appointed time all you have to do is tap your ticket at the FASTPASS+ return stanchion. Thanks to an RFID (radio-frequency identification) chip used inside your ticket, the kiosks can add rides and shows to your ticket. Pleas note if you have a paper ticket you’ll need to visit a park purchase ticket window to switch over to a plastic ticket.

FASTPASS+ is currently being offered at Disney’s Magic Kingdom ® and Disney’s Animal Kingdom ®. Disney ® is expected to eliminate the paper FASTPASS at both Hollywood Studios and Epcot in the next several months. Stay tuned for more information on the FASTPASS+.
