Walt Disney World ® has already begun preparing for the annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade that will air on ABC on Christmas Day. The show will reportedly be taped on Dec. 6 – 8 at Disney’s Magic Kingdom ®. No details on who will perform have been released yet but you can be sure some of the biggest names in Hollywood will show up for the annual Christmas Parade down Main Street U.S.A.
Last year, Nick Cannon and Maria Menounos were the hosts for the annual holiday show. Other performers who spread the holiday cheer included Lady Antebellum, Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Brad Paisley, Phillip Phillips, Colbie Caillat, Toby Mac, Yolanda Adams, Ross Lynch, the cast of “Newsies” and a U.S. Marine Corps Band.
Performers for last year’s Christmas Day Parade sang and performed some of most popular Christmas songs and Disney ® tunes including “Christmas Soul” by Disney Channel’s “Austin & Alley,” Backstreet Boys recorded “Christmas Time Again,” and Toby Mac took the castle stage to perform “Christmas This Year.”
Just like Walt Disney World's ® usual daytime parades, the Christmas Day Parade brings forth all of your favorite Disney ® characters, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Chip ‘n Dale and many more as they appear with celebrities in holiday-themed floats that glide down Main Street U.S.A.
Each year, the Christmas special is taped in both Walt Disney World ® and Disneyland in California. Disneyland will have its own host, whom has yet to be released, and will also feature their own set of celebrity performances, floats and acts for the magical parade.
Since Disney ® tapes the parade during regular business hours there is a chance you can be a part of the production. In the past, Walt Disney World ® has invited pass holders, sports volunteers, Disney ® cast members and even the general public, to apply for free tickets to the tapings. But, even if you don’t have a complimentary ticket there is a chance you can still appear in the show. Magic Kingdom ® typically opens to the public at 8 a.m. during the dates of the taping. Pass holders and guests who pay admission may enter the park, and if there is room in the roped-off areas for the pre-selected audience you may be allowed to join guests who have the complimentary tickets.
