Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World have been teasing new worlds and water parks for months now and it looks like this Memorial Day Weekend we will finally get the chance to splash and play in both. Here’s what’s opening at Orlando them parks for Memorial Day Weekend:
Universal Orlando will officially open its new water park Volcano Bay just before Memorial Day Weekend on May 25. The all-new park includes thrills and relaxation amongst a Pacific Isle atmosphere. Guests will also be able to experience the wearable technology TapuTapu that allows you to wait in a virtual line for attractions as well as activate special effects throughout the park, purchase merchandise and more!
Meanwhile, Walt Disney World is kicking off summer with the opening of the all-new themed land, Pandora – The World of Avatar. The newest world will immerse guests in Pandora with elements from the James Cameron film including floating mountains, glowing rainforests and even food and drink. There will be two attractions in Pandora – Avatar Flight of Passage that takes guests soaring over the jungles of Pandora on a mountain banshee and the Na’vi River Journey, a boat ride through the bioluminescent forests where you will come up close with an audio-animatronic Na’vi. Pandora – The World of Avatar debuts May 27.
In addition to Volcano Bay and Pandora – The World of Avatar, Orlando theme park guests will also be able to enjoy some other new attractions including Universal’s Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon and the newly revamped Miss Adventure Falls at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.
