Things You Missed

Thanksgiving week was a busy week, so much so that you probably missed some big news coming out of Orlando theme parks. In case you were otherwise occupied with family and eating all the turkey, here are the top 5 things you may have missed:

Avatar LandWalt Disney World recently revealed more details about Pandora – The World of Avatar. The land based on the movie “Avatar” is set to open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom next summer. Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts revealed the news and other details at a gather of D23, Disney’s official fan club. He also revealed construction videos and never-before-seen renderings like the Satu’li canteen, Windtraders shopping area and Pongu Pongu beverage stop.

Star Wars Land – Meanwhile, Walt Disney World also provided more details about the new Star Wars Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Chapek unveiled a new image that shows how amazing the Star Wars-themed land will look like once the sun goes down. The image also reveals a closer look at the attractions in the 14-acre land including the signature attraction that will allow guests to take controls of the Millennium Falcon.

PizzeRizzo – The Muppets restaurant PizzeRizzo officially opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on November 18. The restaurant features personal-sized pies, decor inspired by Rizzo himself, an upstairs area called Rizzo’s Deluxe Supreme Banquet Hall, and more.

Candlelight Processional – Epcot’s Candlelight Processional kicked off the day after Thanksgiving with celebrity narrator Steven Curtis Chapman. The annual retelling off the Christmas Story runs through December 30 with other such celebrity narrators as Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg, Edward James Oleos, Anthony Mackie, Robby Benson and many more.

Disney Springs Drones – The first shows of the new “Starbright Holidays - An Intel Collaboration” at Disney Springs began on November 20. The new holiday experience features 300 show drones illuminating the night sky all set to an original Disney arrangement of classic holiday songs. “Starbright Holidays” runs now through January 8.
