Walt Disney World’s MagicBands are getting an update. MagicBand2 will now not only link to My Disney Experience, allowing guests to gain admission, make purchases and redeem FastPass+ reservations, but will also be completely customizable, and if you want, not a band at all.
For Disney guests who don’t want to wear the MagicBand 2 as a wristband, Disney has introduced the “MagicKeeper,” which includes two Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse themed lanyard clips and a carabiner. Guests will be able to remove the puck inside the band and move it into an alternate holder like the lanyard. The accessories will include a small screwdriver for easier removal.
Pass holders should receive the MagicBand2 this month, if they haven’t already. In January 2017, resort guests will start to receive the new MagicBands.
Some Disney guests did get a sneak peak of the new MagicBands when the limited edition MagicBand2 was released celebrating the 45th anniversary of the “It’s a Small World” on December 16.
Two other designs for 2017 will include Sorcerer Mickey and “2017” incorporated into the design.
Stay tuned for more details about the new MagicBands 2.
