Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Due to the immense popularity of Disney’s All-Star Resorts, Disney decided to add a new value resort to its family of hotels, and on December 14, 2003, opened the doors to Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Much like the All-Star Resorts, Disney’s Pop Century Resort features larger-than-life versions of various themed items placed around the hotel (for example: a three-story can of play-doh!). While this resort specializes in entertaining families at an economical price, it is still unmistakingly Disney, and guests here will find classic Disney touches at each and every turn.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort has almost 3,000 rooms separated into 10 four-story buildings. These 10 buildings are separated into five different decades (1950’s to the 1990’s), and each decade is decorated with paraphernalia that represent that era in time. In addition to the buildings, guests will also find three pool areas and one central main building that houses the food court, check-in area, gift shop and an arcade. There is an expansion also planned for Disney’s Pop Century Resort, in which the 1900’s to the 1940’s will be represented in buildings that house family suites with a separate master bedroom and a kitchenette.

Additional amenities at Disney’s Pop Century Resort include in-room pizza delivery, babysitting and child services, laundry facilities, self-parking and high speed internet. A word of caution, however: be sure to book in advance, as the value resorts are the first to fill up and are at or near capacity for most of the year.

One of the great things about staying at a Disney value resort is that you get the same privileges as guests staying at a deluxe category hotel. Just for staying at a resort on property, you will enjoy Extra Magic Hours (before the parks open and after they close), in which only resort guests get to experience the best attractions with much lesser crowds. If you are flying into Orlando International Airport, you can also take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express Transportation, which picks you up and takes you to your Walt Disney World Resort free of charge. Transportation is also complimentary on-site at your resort hotel, as you can hop on a bus and be shuttled anywhere on property without ever having to spend a dime to park or worry about how to get where.
