Nothing in Tampa Bay will put you in the Christmas mood more than a trip to Wild Wonderland, a local staple at Lowry Park Zoo. During select nights in December the zoo turns into a land of wintry magic with Santa, his reindeer, animal exhibits, a castle light show, fun rides, exciting carnival games, the occasional snow flurry, and shopping everyone in the family can enjoy. New this year to the event for those that want to add some thrills to their wondrous night is the 100-foot long Arctic Blast Slide.
The night begins when you enter the zoo through the Enchanted Castle Light Show, where thousands of lights are synchronized to classic holiday music with a few snow flurries in the park’s forecast. From there, it’s going to be a great family night. Kids can take a picture with Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas, and even give directions to live reindeer where they need to stop by on Christmas night.
There’s still plenty to do after meeting up with Jolly Old Saint Nick. You’ll marvel at the gorgeous displays throughout the zoo that showcase animal figures, snowflakes, trees and even “moving” displays to capture the imagination. Don’t miss out on the newest attraction, Frozen Forest, where you walk through an icy wonderland full of glimmering ice, snow and more!
The thrill-seekers in your crew will find something that suits their tastes. The little ones will enjoy unlimited rides on the bumper boats, Overland Express Train and Pony Trek to name a few. A rush of excitement awaits anyone that takes a ride on the Arctic Blast Slide, an all-new 100-foot slide that will be sure to give anyone a thrill. After getting your fill of rides, test your luck at some of the Reindeer Games for a chance to win an assortment of prizes. And don’t forget about grabbing some food, drinks and unique Christmas goods you can find at shops only open during Wild Wonderland.
