Introduction to Universal Studios

Universal Studios Florida is the No. 1 movie and TV-based theme park in the world. This park is a real, working film and television studio that features anything from action-packed rides to activities for children, and much more.

While the biggest draw to Universal Studios is the opportunity to “ride the movies,” it is important to know Important Park Information before you dive into the attractions at Universal Studios. From Twister, E.T.: The Extraterrestrial, The Blues Brothers, Jaws, Shrek, Men in Black and Terminator 2, every visitor can find themselves transported into a scene from any of these favorite movies. While these attractions aren’t exactly the hair-raising ones you will find over at Universal’s Island of Adventure, they are very interactive and offer a new and exciting way to go behind the scenes of these films.

Universal is divided into various themed lands, just like Islands of Adventure. Woody’s Woodpecker KidZone is a kid-friendly area with rides and attractions for all of the smallest members of the family.  Hollywood is to the right of the Front Lot, and its streets include Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard, all lined with ornate buildings that take you back to the glamour of old Hollywood. In this area, you can learn trade secrets from Hollywood’s best makeup artists, fight for the future of mankind in a 3-D action thriller, Terminator 2, or, if you love Lucy, visit the exhibit remembering America’s queen of comedy in Lucy – A Tribute.

New York is near the back of the park and its attractions are among mock-ups of 42nd and 57th streets, Park Avenue and Delancey Street in New York City.  Here you can catch the Blues Brothers entertaining guests on Delancey Street five times a day, get caught up in a tornado on Twister… Ride It Out, or tackle the biggest thrill ride inside Universal Studios, Revenge of the Mummy.

Production Central is directly behind and to the left of the Front Lot. Visit another spectacular show in Shrek 4-D, or climb right into the hit show Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius with Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast.

San Francisco/Amity faces the waterfront and its attractions, JAWS, Fear Factor Live, Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Revue and Earthquake are among the most popular stops in this park. Finally, the World Expo, the smallest zone at Universal Studios, packs a punch with Men In Black: Alien Attack, a ride-through video game that lets you blast your way through the fun.

Of course, the rides and attractions at this park aren’t all that it has to offer. There are also many of your favorite characters located throughout the different zones, as well as many different interactive entertainment opportunities available, such as arcade games, carnival-like games, and much more.

With more than a dozen places to eat and more than 25 shops located throughout Universal Studios, there is no shortage of dining and shopping options for everyone as well, and these insider secrets can help you make the most of your day at Universal Studios !
