A fun, engaging, and most importantly, hands-on experience with the science and technology that affects everyday life, Tampa’s Museum of Science & Industry features 450 exhibits, live science demonstrations, and an impressive IMAX theatre. Visitors have numerous interactive exhibits to discover: play inside Kids In Charge!, the largest children's science center in the nation; encounter extreme weather conditions inside an exhibit that features the impact of simulated natural disasters, or watch an astronomy show in the planetarium.
The Florida Aquarium
Set along the lovely waterfront in downtown Tampa, the three-story, glass domed Florida Aquarium features a remarkable 20,000-plus aquatic plants and marine animals from across the globe. An ideal attraction for the whole family, the aquarium houses a 500,000 gallon floor-to-ceiling coral reef tank, a variety of hands-on exhibits featuring marine animals and ecosystems from around the world, and a gigantic, outdoor water play park for the kids to get wet and wild on a hot day. Sharks, otters, stingrays, and yes, even penguins are all available to see up close and personal when you visit them at the Florida Aquarium.
Lowry Park Zoo
More than 1,500 animals roaming across a spacious, beautiful landscape awaits you at the family-friendly Lowry Park Zoo. Visitors can encounter the animals in one of eight habitat areas, plus; it’s never been easier to feed the giraffes and rhinos in one of the many interactive exhibits. There are two water play areas to help kids cool off, plus fun rides for everyone to enjoy - the Gator Falls flume ride, and the Tasmanian Tiger Family Coaster. Zoo Keepers also present talks about the animals and life working in the zoo. A day at the Lowry Park Zoo is going to be a blast for the whole family!
