Disney's Animal Kingdom® Attractions

Here’s a list of the rides and attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World.

  • Expedition Everest® Attraction - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain – This new addition to Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park is a high-speed train adventure that takes guests through the 20-story towering Forbidden Mountain. While onboard, riders will travel both forward and backward through mountain caverns and canyons as you head for a face-to-face encounter with the yeti – otherwise known as the Abominable Snowman!
  • Dinosaur® Attraction – This high-action ride takes guests on a journey back to prehistoric times on a mission to capture a dinosaur before a giant meteor hits. What does all of that mean? Lots of turbulence will be experienced as you come face-to-face with a plethora of very realistic audio animatronic dinosaurs! Beware if you have small children however – these creatures may be a tad bit too convincing!
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris® Expedition – Any trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park would be complete without a visit to the Kilimanjaro Safaris® Expedition. Take a ride on a 32-passenger safari truck and take a guided adventure through more than 100 acres of re-created African terrain. Expect to see exotic animals such as giraffes, zebras, rhinos, elephants, crocodiles, lions, hippos and more, as they all roam free throughout the land. The best time to visit this attraction would be the morning hours, as the animals are roaming freely the most during this time of day, while they nap or take shade in the heat of the afternoon.
  • Festival of the Lion King – This live stage show is one of, if not the best, shows at the entire Walt Disney World® Resort. The almost 30-minute intimate production features dancers, singers, characters, and larger-than-life puppets of Simba, Pumba, an elephant and a giraffe. Each of the four sets of bleachers around the small theater are assigned to a different animal, and there are interactive opportunities for the entire section throughout the production. You can expect to see all of your favorite songs from the movie performed, as well as some ballet, acrobatics and fire twirling. Children will especially love this show, and if you score a seat close to the floor of the theatre (those are the best seats), your child may even have the opportunity to go out and be a part of this unforgettable show!
  • Finding Nemo – The Musical – This show is unique because it’s the first time Disney has transformed a non-musical feature into a musical. With all new songs produced just for this performance, you will be transformed under the sea with Nemo and his friends as singers, dancers and puppets delight everyone in the family during this 30-minute show!
  • Kali River Rapids® Attraction – Beware – you WILL get wet! Raft down the Chakranadi River on board a 12-passenger boat through an Asian rain forest where you will face gushing geysers, raging rapids and rushing waterfalls.
  • Flights of Wonder – This live show features human bird handlers and over 20 species of trained exotic birds, including vultures, hawks and the American Bald Eagle, some of which fly over the audience during this 25-minute production.
  • Affection Section – This petting zoo in Rafiki’s Planet Watch® Land features goats, sheep, llamas, pigs, chickens and more.
  • Conservation Station® – This facility houses hands-on displays, live-animal exhibits and a chance to see some of the behind-the-scenes facilities where the animals are taken care of, such as the veterinary facilities and animal nurseries.
  • Habitat Habit! – This adventure trails gives guests the opportunity to see endangered cotton-top tamarin primates up close.
  • Maharajah Jungle Trek® Attraction – See wild animals native to Asia on this trail, including Komodo dragons, Bengal tigers and more.
  • Pangani Forest Exploration Trail ® – This self-paced area offers exhibits featuring gorillas, colorful African birds, hippos and about 35 different species of exotic birds flying overhead.
  • Fossil Fun Games – These midway-type carnival games gives guests the opportunity to win prizes if you can complete the task – but at an extra charge.
  • Kids Discovery Clubs – The Kids Discovery Club are six interactive stations located throughout the park, which gives young guests the opportunity to do things such as go on a scavenger hunt or construct a dinosaur from a pile of bones.
  • The Boneyard – Designed for the youngsters, this is a play maze filled with fossils. Kids can get a preview of what it is like to be an archeologist as they dig for dinosaur bones.
  • TriceraTop Spin – Much like the Dumbo the Flying Elephant® attraction at the Magic Kingdom® Park, this ride features triceratops-shaped vehicles that rise and tilt as you go for a spin.
  • Primeval Whirl® – This popular attraction in DinoLand U.S.A.® Area features cars that spin as you travel along a roller coaster-type track that includes sharp turns and drops. Think of it as the teacups meet a child’s roller coaster! As mentioned, this attraction is very popular, so it may be a good idea to get a FastPass® Service for it (and go before you eat!).
  • The Tree of Life – This centerpiece of the theme park is also a piece of art as well, featuring carvings of 325 different animals on this 14-story tree with more than 8,000 branches and 103,000 leaves!
  • It's Tough to be a Bug!® – Based on the popular Disney-Pixar movie “A Bug’s Life,” the attraction ‘It’s Tough to be a Bug®’ Attraction has had fans buzzing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park since the park’s debut on April 22, 1998. This 3-D show fits in well with the theme of Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, showing guests – from a very humorous perspective – just how tough it is to be a bug in this universe!
