Birthdays are special occasions in their own right, but what happens when that special day of the year just so happens to coincide with your next trip to Walt Disney World? Chances are if you’re planning on spending your big day at the Walt Disney World Resort, you can count on having a day full of surprises, fun and that Disney magic that we have all come to know and love.
But first, before you start planning the details of your birthday celebration, it’s important to get the logistics of your vacation settled first; i.e. your hotel reservations, travel arrangements and, of course, your theme park tickets. OrlandoFunTickets.com would like to help you with all of that, giving you advice on all of the resorts at Walt Disney World, offering you tips on when to travel down, and best of all, giving you the opportunity to purchase discounted Disney tickets. OrlandoFunTickets.com is your No. 1 online source for purchasing discounted tickets to not only all of the Walt Disney World theme parks, but also to other top Central Florida attractions such as Universal Orlando and Sea World Orlando.
Now that you have your theme park tickets in order, it’s time to start planning how to spend your birthday! Whether it is one of your children who will be celebrating or you yourself, the Walt Disney World Resort goes above and beyond to treat their guests celebrating events such as birthdays like they are VIPs for the day! Be prepared for lots of recognition throughout the day, lots of surprises, and lots of memories that will last a lifetime.
So how does one go about celebrating a birthday at the Walt Disney World Resort? It’s actually easier than you might think. First of all, it’s important when you book your hotel reservations or any meal reservations on you or your child’s birthday that you let them know whose birthday it will be and what day it is on. By doing this, you can receive special recognition at your Walt Disney World hotel with small gifts and coupons for your birthday, and some hotels even leave surprises for you in your guest room on the day of your birthday!
Once you have alerted the appropriate parties about your birthday, all you have to do now is just sit back and wait for the big day to arrive. And once it does, the fun starts immediately! For example, if you alert the front desk of the birthday, they can set up a birthday wake-up call for the birthday girl/boy. A call from Mickey and Goofy is a sure-fire way to get any birthday off to a great start! Then, you can get your day jumpstarted with a character dining breakfast. Since it’s your birthday, you just might get a little surprise while you enjoy your meal with your favorite Disney characters (be sure that even if you told them of the birthday while making your reservation that you remind them when you arrive)!
Next, if you are heading out for a day of park-hopping, make sure your first stop is to pick up a complimentary birthday button at your first park. You can pick this up at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom Park or at the Guest Relations booths at the three remaining parks. These buttons can be worn all day and will give you all of that additional recognition that we were speaking of earlier! (Buttons can also be picked up at these locations if you are celebrating an anniversary, on a honeymoon or if you’re a first-time visitor to Walt Disney World.) Be sure to display this button proudly, especially if you’re getting autographs from characters throughout the day. When you’re collecting your signatures, be sure to show the characters your button or just let them know it is your birthday – you will receive many unique messages from all of your beloved friends in the parks! And yet another unique piece of memorabilia you can take home with you on your child’s birthday can be found at Epcot. If you purchase a passport (or you can use your autograph book), alert the Cast Members at each Kidcot Fun Stop around the World Showcase that it’s your child’s birthday. Along with birthday messages from the characters, they will also take home birthday greetings in many different languages from people all across the world.
If you make a pit stop back in your hotel at any point during the day and would like a little added surprise waiting for you, you can pre-order flowers or gift baskets to be delivered to your room from the Walt Disney World florist. Just call (407) 827-3505 to purchase these items that can be delivered directly to your room as a surprise for the birthday girl/boy. These cakes range from a six-inch cake to a whole sheet cake that, giving you options depending on your party size. The six-inch cakes do not require advanced notice (in case you decide you want one at the last minute), but we urge you to pre-arrange any cake order before your big day to ensure that it will be there. For all specialty cake orders, call the cake hotline at 407-827-2253 at least 48 hours in advance of your big day.
