Lego Imagination Center at Disney Springs

Walt Disney was all about imagination, and he used his vivid imagination to build the Walt Disney Co. into the empire that it is today in the entertainment world. Arguably the cornerstone of the Walt Disney Co. today is the Walt Disney World® Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., a vast playground for families. With four theme parks, two water parks, dozens of resort hotels and a shopping and entertainment complex, the Disney Springs Area, there is no end to the imagination that went into the making of this resort, which is still in development more than 40 years after Walt Disney began making his dream a reality.

While the theme of imagination runs throughout the entire Walt Disney World® Resort, one of the stores at Disney Springs that best represents Walt Disney’s imagination is aptly named the Lego Imagination Center. This 4,400-square feet store opened in 1997 and was modeled after the original Lego shop from the Mall of America in Minnesota. The Lego Imagination Center in Disney Springs is different, however, because it is much more than just a store; outside is another 3,000-square feet of play space, including a building area with different varieties of legos, a jungle gym and life-sized lego statues, including a family out walking their dogs, a 12-foot tall T-Rex dinosaur and a giant sea serpent protruding from the nearby lagoon.

The inside of the Lego Imagination Center is as much of a showcase as it is a store, as there are elaborate displays set up all around the store right along with the legos that can help guests re-create these masterpieces back at home. The shop also features a giant Pick A Brick wall, featuring legos of every size, shape and color, and a demonstration center with events and contests for guests.
