When you're hungry while visiting Universal Orlando, head over to Fast Food Boulevard in Springfield, U.S.A. so you can eat where The Simpsons eat. That's right, all the best restaurant locations from America's favorite animated family can be found right here in the heart of Universal Studios Florida. From Krusty Burger to Moe's, you can live it up like Homer in this Fast Food paradise. Don't forget to wash it all down with an authentic Buzz Cola, Duff Beer or Flamin' Moe! Here's our list of the top 5 fantastic foods you'll want to try.
Krusty Burger
Hey hey, kids! Krusty the Clown's very own Krusty Burger has set up shop right in the middle of Universal Studios Florida, and he's offering famous dishes like the Heat Lamp Dog, the Ribwich and of course the Krusty Burger. This 1/3 pound burger is topped with a giant tomato slice, iceberg lettuce, drippy cheddar cheese sauce and a good helping of the house's super-secret sauce. If, for some reason, a 1/3 pound of beef isn't big enough for you, Krusty also serves up the Clogger Burger with 2/3 pounds of beef and topped with smoked bacon. All sandwiches are served with their signature Kurly Fries and a pickle spear. Wash it down with a "100% Mammal Milk" Milkshake available in chocolate and vanilla.
Chicken and Waffle Sandwich
Not in the mood for a burger? Cletus' Chicken Shack has got you covered. Springfield's favorite hillbilly is cooking up some tender bites like Chicken Thumbs (also known as tenders,) Chicken Arms (more commonly referred to as chicken wings,) or the southern classic: Chicken and Waffle Sandwich. This delightful dish is made of double battered, extra crispy chicken breast served between two waffles instead of bread and topped with an amazingly addictive maple syrup mayonnaise. Gobble these meals up with some good 'ol down-home tater tots on the side.
Basket O' Bait
You may remember The Frying Dutchman as the all-you-can-eat restaurant where Homer ate so much food in one sitting that it's no longer all-you-can-eat. The sign out front still has that part crossed off to this day! The food here is anything they can catch in the sea and fry for your plate. They offer meals like Basket O' Shrimp, Basket O' Calamari and Battered Fish. Can't decide on just one? Order the Basket O' Bait! It comes with a heaping helping of battered fresh-caught cod, coconut-crusted shrimp, fried calamari, a side of tater tots and a hushpuppy. Enjoy dipping these deep-fried beauties in some homemade tartar sauce or cocktail sauce.
Korean Beef Tacos
Ay caramba! Head outside to find Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck for your street food fix. It's a fact that no one knows Mexican food better than a guy dressed as a bee that you've seen on TV! You can get several types of tacos here or order a big plate of Mucho Macho Nachos to share. The Chicken and Carne Asada Tacos are good, but the Korean Beef Taco is this truck's brightest offering. It's made with tangy Asian-inspired braised beef served in your choice of corn or flour tortilla and topped with a zesty cucumber and radish relish. It's so good it'll have you exclaiming "ay yi yi!"
Giant Pink-Iced Donut
Mmmmm, donuts. You couldn't possibly pop into Springfield, U.S.A. without stopping off at Lard Lad Donuts. Just look for the towering statue holding that iconic pink donut towards the sky. This little stand offers a variety of ice cream sundaes, warm apple fritters, and of course all the "D'oh-nuts" you can stomach. Their claim to fame is the giant yummy monstrosity that is The Big Pink. This huge donut is super sweet, covered in creamy pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles, just the way Homer likes it. To be honest though, it's more like an entire cake than a donut. And with a price of only $5.99, it's a steal! Share this big boy with your family, (or take it back home in its handy to-go box and keep it all to yourself!)
