Food for Thought

One of the highest rated restaurants at the Universal Orlando Resort, Mythos at Islands of Adventure offers a dining experience unlike any other. Offering exceptional modern cuisine in a gorgeous dining hall themed like a cavernous grotto on a distant ocean, Mythos should be at the top of every foodie's must-try list. Recently this full-service restaurant began offering a new Chef's Tasting Menu with 5 sublime courses for $49 per person.

Your meal begins with a delicately stacked Amuse Bouche to whet your appetite. For the second course you can choose between a Greek Salad or Tuscan Tomato Soup. Mythos serves a wide variety of flavors from around the world, specializing on a unique blend of Mediterranean, Asian and American fare. The Greek salad is served with Feta crackers and an herb-lemon vinaigrette, while the Tuscan Tomato Soup, a house specialty, is served with house-made croutons and a basil oil drizzle. Both options arrive with sliced hearty bread and whipped butter.

This feast fit for the Gods continues with a robust third course of Truffle Mushroom Risotto. This flavorful risotto is cooked to perfection, infused with truffle and mixed with seasonal wild mushrooms, then topped with a chive oil drizzle and shaved Parmesan. Be sure to save room though, because we're just about to get to the main course.

For the fourth course, diners have a choice of Beef Loin Watercress or Pan Roasted Wild Salmon. Both dishes are works of art on the plate and are cooked to perfection, so every bite melts in your mouth. The beef loin is served atop a savory red wine reduction sauce, along with potato puree, sea salt roasted carrots and a touch of frisee. The roasted wild salmon is perched upon a toasty romesco sauce, served with wild rice, sautéed mushrooms and thinly sliced zucchini ribbons.

The fifth and final course is, of course, the Chef's Dessert. Top this amazing meal off with a refreshing Berry Sorbet. With a blend of strawberries, blueberries, blackberry and raspberries, this special dessert option cannot be found on the regular menu and is dairy-free. It's just the right type of blissful bite to close out on, before heading back into the park.

Mythos offers a full-service menu, as well as the new Chef's Tasting Menu, daily for both lunch and dinner. You can reserve your table ahead of time or check with the host or hostess on the day of for availability. You'll find Mythos inside of the Lost Continent area of Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park, at the Universal Orlando Resort.
