For an ice cold treat, head to Florean Fortescue's for butterbeer ice cream and more (Photo: Universal Orlando)

Food for Thought

One of the best parts of spending time at the Orlando theme parks is getting to try all of the amazing and unique foods! From snacks you cannot find anywhere else in the world to dishes that are straight out of your favorite films and TV shows, there is no better escape than trying something new while on vacation. Here are some of the most interesting and delicious dishes to try at Universal Studios Florida.

Bagel Toast at TODAY Cafe
The TODAY Cafe near the front of the park is a great place to grab some coffee and a pastry in the morning, or a New York inspired sandwich for lunch, but one of the stand-out offerings here is the Bagel Toast. It's an almond butter and Nutella cream cheese topped toasted bagel sprinkled with fresh fruit, toasted nuts, and chocolate chips—and it is to die for! Since it's only served during breakfast time, if you miss it, you can try Al's Avocado Toast instead, which is another home run from the cafe, and served all day. There's plenty of sweets and treats worth a nibble here as well, including the cheesecake on the stick.

Fish & Chips from Leaky Cauldron
Eating at the Leaky Cauldron at Diagon Alley is like having a meal inside of a Harry Potter film. This perfect recreation of the location from the books and films offers British fare like Bangers and Mash, Toad in the Hole and Cottage Pie. The best dish, and specialty of the house, is the Fish and Chips, which includes hand-dipped battered cod, served with potato wedges and homemade tartar sauce. The fish has just the right crunch and the homemade tartar sauce is heavenly. Order a dessert like the Sticky Toffee Pudding and wash it all down with a cold Butterbeer for the complete Harry Potter experience.

Chicken and Waffle Sandwich at The Simpsons Fast Food Blvd
For The Simpsons' take on this classic southern staple, head over to Cletus' Chicken Shack inside of Fast Food Boulevard. The Chicken and Waffle Sandwich is made up of double battered, extra crispy chicken breast served between two waffles instead of bread and topped with an amazingly addictive maple syrup mayonnaise. This unique sandwich comes with tater tots on the side, instead of fries like most other quick service locations at the park and goes down great with an authentic Buzz Cola!

Korean Beef Tacos from Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck
Don't pass by this unassuming food truck when visiting Springfield - Home of The Simpsons. You can get a few different types of tacos here, including Carne Asada or Chicken, but the greatest dish of all is the Korean Beef Tacos. With its tangy Asian-inspired braised beef served in your choice of corn or flour tortilla and topped with a zesty cucumber and radish relish, it's a dish you won't want to miss.

Potato & Onion Webb from Finnegan's Bar and Grill
While all of the options on our list so far have been dishes, this one is actually an appetizer. Found at Finnegan’s Bar and Grill, the table service location located across from The Mummy, the Potato & Onion Webb is like an experience unto itself. Bring some friends when you order this masterpiece made of thinly sliced potatoes & onions, hand dipped in beer batter, crisply fried golden brown and served with malt vinegar. It goes great with a pint of your favorite beer before your meal or order it as a snack between rides!

Bonus Dish: Butterbeer Ice Cream from Florean Fortescue’s
No visit to Diagon Alley should be complete without a stop into Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour. Here you'll find some of the most incredible tasting soft-serve ice cream along with the most unique hard-pack ice cream flavors you've ever seen. With options like Chocolate Chili or Earl Grey and Lavender, you could go crazy trying to pick a flavor, but the best of the best has got to be the Butterbeer Ice Cream. If you've never tried it, it should be on the top of your must-try list!
