Mardi Gras isn’t Mardi Gras without the flavors of the Big Easy, which is why Universal Orlando has made sure to capture Bourbon Street and beyond with Cajun classics at the annual Mardi Gras celebration.
If you do nothing else at this year’s Mardi Gras make sure you head to the French Quarter Courtyard for classic New Orleans fare like spicy jambalaya, shrimp po’ boys, crawfish étouffée fried pie and more.
The French Courtyard isn’t the only place to get your Bourbon Street fix. Several Universal restaurants are taking over your tastebuds with foods from the Big Easy. Mel’s Drive-In is serving up a Bourbon Street Stinger Burger. Get a taste of land and sea N’awlins style with the Bayou Surf & Turf at Classic Monsters Cafe at Universal Studios. Or head to Louie’s Italian Restaurant and try a slice of Cajun Chicken & Andouille Sausage Pizza.
And we can’t mention New Orleans food without mentioning the famous sweet dessert beignet. This pillow-like pastry dusted in powdered sugar is served in the French Courtyard. You can also enjoy a bite-sized treat called the fried funnel puffs.
Universal’s Mardi Gras celebration continues daily through April 7 with a nightly parade and live concerts on select nights. Remaining concerts include Macklemore Feb. 24, 311 March 3, Phillip Phillips March 4, Jason Derulo March 10, Fitz and the Tantrums March 11, Foreigner March 17, Fifth Harmony March 18, Jessie J March 24 and BUSH March 25.
The fun is included in regular Universal Orlando admission. You can find discounted tickets to Universal here on Orlando Fun Tickets.
