Soarin’ to tower, we are ready for takeoff! Soarin’ Around The World has been one of Epcot’s most popular attractions since it opened almost 15 years ago. Its unique ride technology takes the storytelling experience to new heights! Since Soarin’ Around The World is a park favorite for guests of all ages, today we’re sharing five fun facts about the attraction.
Soarin’ Around The World is a massive attraction! Each ride vehicle consists of three rows and can hold up to 87 guests at a time. Due to attraction popularity, Epcot went from two viewing theaters to three during a major attraction overhaul. Now guests will be led to either Concourse A, Concourse B, or Concourse C to help keep wait times down for this extremely popular attraction!
When you’re flying with Soarin’ you’ll always be a part of Flight 5505, but why is that? In Disney Parks, no number or detail is random and that is the case for the Soarin’ flight number as well! Flight 5505 represents the anniversary of Soarin’ opening in Epcot, May 5, 2005. Be sure to wow your family and friends with that fun fact next time you ride!
Like most Disney attractions, Soarin’ Around The World is home to a few Hidden Mickeys! During the scene where hot air balloons are flying above the desert, keep your eyes focused on the three hot air balloons that cluster together. Another great Hidden Mickey on Soarin’ Around The World happens at the very end of the attraction during the Epcot fireworks!
Second Version of the Attraction
Soarin’ Around The World is the second version of Epcot’s Soarin’ attraction. The original was Soarin’ Over California, which was created for Disney California Adventure Park! The attraction was so popular in Anaheim that it was added to the Epcot lineup in 2005. In 2016 the Disney Parks released a new and improved Soarin’ show, Soarin’ Around The World that focused on iconic views from all around the globe!
Soarin’(s) Around The World
Soarin’ and its unique ride experience has spread to four different Disney Parks around the world. After opening with Disney California Adventure Park on February 8, 2001 as Soarin’ Over California, the original attraction made its way to Epcot at Walt Disney World only four years later in 2005! When Shanghai Disneyland opened its gates on June 16, 2016, they offered their own version of Soarin’ called Soaring Over the Horizon. And just this summer, Tokyo Disney opened their own Soarin’ attraction, Soaring: Fantastic Flight, on July 23, 2019!
As you can see, Soarin’ Around The World is a pretty special Epcot attraction. From its unique ride system to its amazing views, Soarin’ has become an Epcot must do for guests of all ages! So next time you visit the Most Magical Place on Earth, don’t forget to grab a seat on Flight 5505.
