There's so much more that families can do with their kids at the Universal Orlando Resort than just riding rides! From exciting encounters with their favorite characters and places to run and play to relaxing days by the pool and lounging in a free lazy river, the resort is busting with all sorts of unique things to do.

Dine With Characters
Start your day off with a little mischief at the Despicable Me Character Breakfast. Every Saturday at Loews Royal Pacific Resort you can dine with the Minions, as well as Gru, Margo, Edith and Agnes. Enjoy all you care to eat morning favorites like pancakes, bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs. If your kids are super hero fans they can team up with their favorite Marvel heroes at the Marvel Character Dinner every Thursday through Sunday at Universal's Islands of Adventure. Meet Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine and more while feasting on Italian pastas, salads and all you can eat pizza!

Try Wacky Doughnuts in CityWalk
One of the newest and most unique spots at Universal CityWalk is Voodoo Doughnut. This crazy eatery has got everyone talking about their insane doughnut flavors, and kids especially are excited to try them all. From classics like chocolate dipped, to specialties covered in colorful cereal pieces, to really weird options filled with strangely delicious fillings like the "Mango Tango," your family will have so much fun ordering a dozen and trying them together.

Play at the Arcades
Both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure have awesome arcades filled with super fun ticket games you can play to redeem cool prizes. In addition to ticket games you'll find lots of modern video games based on some of your favorite films like Jurassic World too. If you're staying at one of the Universal Orlando on-site hotels, that means you have an arcade right at the resort! They're perfect for breaking up the day when staying in, or taking a little break from the pool.

Swim and Play at the Hotel Pools
And speaking of swimming, did you know that when you stay at one of the on-site hotels you can pool hop and go swimming at any of the other on-site pools? It's true! Cabana Bay has two amazing pools and a lazy river you can explore, no matter which hotel you're staying at. Royal Pacific Resort has water cannons you can spray and play with. The Hard Rock Hotel's pool plays music underwater, how cool is that? And no matter where you go swimming at the Universal Orlando Resort, they all have a fun water slide to play on and poolside activities for kids daily.

Dance with SpongeBob at the Superstar Parade
Kids love Universal's Superstar Parade every afternoon at Universal Studios Florida. The floats are filled with all sorts of interesting characters from TV and film. The silly cats and dogs of The Secret Life of Pets, the yellow Minions of Despicable Me and everyone's favorite sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea, SpongeBob SquarePants. Children love dancing with SpongeBob and Patrick in the Hollywood or New York section of the park, where the parade stops for a little dance party, under raining colorful confetti!

Explore Play Areas
Explore amber mines and labyrinths of caves with your kids at Camp Jurassic in Islands of Adventure. Step on giant dinosaur footprints to hear them roar and climb on nets to reach the lookout tower overlooking all of Jurassic Park. In Universal Studios Florida, families can explore the world of Fievel's Playland, where it feels like your the size of a mouse. Climb on over-sized props, splash and play under a huge watering can and slide down a water raft slide together.

Aim for Targets at the Ball Factory
One of the often overlooked gems of Universal Studios Florida is the Ball Factory, tucked away behind the Curious George Goes to Town play area. The play area includes splash zones, so walk along the left side to avoid getting wet. The Ball Factory is a neat place where kids can fire ball launchers at targets that keep score. Interesting levers and gears help the ball launchers reload and kids can collect more balls with big canvas bags they provide. It's a different way to play that's sure to ignite their imagination.

Meet a Dinosaur at Raptor Encounter
What could be more exciting than coming face to face with a real live Raptor? At Jurassic Park in Islands of Adventure you can get your photo taken right in front of a breathing roaring Raptor, if you're brave enough. Be careful and follow the trainers instructions, or you may end up on the menu. If you're lucky, you may even get to meet Blue the Raptor from the Jurassic World film series.

Blue Man Group's unique mix of visual art, technology, music and comedy makes for a night of fun your family will never forget.

Enjoy the Spectacle of Universal's Cinematic Celebration
Universal Orlando's Cinematic Celebration is the new nighttime spectacular at Universal Studios Florida. Watch in awe on select nights as the park's central lagoon explodes to life with over a hundred fountains, water screens, pyrotechnic effects, lasers and more.
