One of the best parts of your vacation to the Universal Orlando Resort has got to be trying all of the incredible sweets and treats that can be found around the parks. After all, food can be an attraction too! From creative character designs to decadent over-the-top toppings, here are the top 5 gourmet apple options to try at Universal Orlando.
Character Apples at Hello Kitty Store
For a selection of the cutest candy apples you won't be able to find anywhere else, head to the Hello Kitty Store at Universal Studios Florida. They offer seven different varieties in total, including two delightful character designs. Everyone's favorite little frog Keroppi is a green apple covered in a bright green chocolate coating, and the endearing Chococat is covered in rich milk chocolate. They almost look too good to eat! The other apple options are coated with colorful sprinkles, chocolate chips, cookie crumbs and more. The best part? They all come with an iconic pink Hello Kitty bow on top, and it's made of yummy chocolate!
Despicable Me Minion Apple
This little guy has got his eye on you! You can find this adorable (and delicious) Minion-shaped candy apple at the Studio Sweets shop and San Francisco Candy Company inside of Universal Studios Florida. He's covered in bright yellow chocolate coating with a piece of candy for an eye, with a happy smile and signature goggles drawn on in chocolate drizzle. It's so cute you'll want to get two: one to eat right now, and one to keep for photos with the real Minions later on at their dance party near the Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem ride. They'll go bananas when they see it!
Ultimate Apples from Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
For the fanciest of candy apple selections, head to The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal CityWalk. These are perfect for the chocoholics in your group. There are four to choose from, and each one is more extravagant than the last! There's "The Decadent Apple" made with a mix of chocolate and caramel, the "Ooey Gooey Apple" made with cookies and peanut butter, The “Cookies R' Us" is slathered in a huge helping of cookies and cream, and finally there's "The Ultimate Sundae," which is made with chocolate, topped with more chocolate, and then topped with cherries. With a lineup like that, no matter which one you choose, you win!
Specialty Flavors
You can find all sorts of unique flavors and featured apples at several of the sweet shops located around the resort. One of the most popular featured flavors is Rocky Road. It's covered in ribbons of chocolate, loads of marshmallows and pecans, and it's so big you may need to share with a friend to finish it! Other options include an Apple Pie flavor with a pie crumble topping, as well as a Cookies and Cream apple covered in white chocolate and dipped into Oreo cookie pieces.
Candy-Covered Apples
For something fun and simple, try an apple dipped in your favorite candies or nuts! The one dipped in milk chocolate and rolled in M&Ms is a winner for sure. The caramel apple covered in crushed peanuts is a time-tested favorite as well. And there's also a Heath bar apple for all you toffee lovers out there. Of course, you can also purchase a traditional candy apple or caramel-dipped apple, because the classics never get old!
No matter your taste, there's a candy apple that's just right for you! You'll find the biggest selection at Studio Sweets in Universal Studios Florida or the Island Market and Export Candy Shoppe in Islands of Adventure. Both are located near their park's entrances, perfect for grabbing one at the start of your adventure. Or, grab one on your way out for enjoying back at the hotel later!
