Throw on all of your purple and gold and get ready to party as Universal Orlando kicks off their annual Mardi Gras celebration. Florida’s biggest party returns February 3-April 7 with dazzling festive parades, stunning floats, mouthwatering Cajun cuisine and live performances.

The Mardi Gras highlights are concerts from some of music’s biggest recording artists. And this year the Orlando theme park has a splendid lineup, with Grammy Award-winning rapper Macklemore; international superstar and recording artist Sean Paul; and Billboard “Hot 100” pop group Fifth Harmony, among many others.

New Orleans’ most talented brass bands will also perform, bringing the sounds of the Bayou to The French Quarter Courtyard:

            •           Feb. 3 – Feb. 20: Free Agents Brass Band

            •           Feb. 21 – March 6: Naughty Professor Brass Band

            •           March 7 – March 20: New Breed Brass Band

            •           March 21 – March 31: Young Pinstripe Brass Band

            •           April 1 – April 7: Dirty Bourbon River Show

This year, the parade is getting a celestial upgrade with nightly constellation themes that include stilt performers and 12 handcrafted floats, with six new designs of ethereal creatures. These include floats with Taurus, Virgo the Maiden, Scorpius, Andromeda, Orion the Hunter and Serpentarius.

And of course there will be all the beads!

As for Cajun food, you’ll find tastes of The Big Easy throughout the park. Head to the tents to sample classic New Orleans cuisine like jambalaya, gumbo, beignets and more.
