The Disney parks panel during the D23 Expo is always an exciting time for Disney Parks lovers. During this panel upcoming changes to Disney parks across the globe are announced, sometimes with the help of stars, imagineers, and other exciting announcers! The D23 Expo 2019 took place in Anaheim, California from Friday, August 23, 2019 until Sunday, August 25, 2019. The Disney Parks panel on Sunday, August 25, 2019 announced several new developments, but Walt Disney World definitely stole the show with all of their upcoming excitement!

The 50th anniversary of the Most Magical Place on Earth is only two years away and will be one of the biggest Disney Parks anniversaries ever. The celebration will be extended to all four theme parks at Walt Disney World thanks to new attraction openings, new merchandise, new dining locations, and new entertainment! Ready to take in every new Walt Disney World announcement from the D23 Expo 2019? Here’s everything you have to look forward to over the next two years!

Cirque du Soleil
For the first time ever, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering have joined forces with Cirque du Soleil to create an all-new show for Disney Springs. This new show will combine Disney storytelling and heart through Cirque du Soleil’s famous artistry! Previews for this all-new experience will begin on March 20, 2020, and the world premiere will be April 17, 2020.

Disney Genie
Planning the ultimate Disney vacation is about to get a whole lot easier thanks to Disney Genie! Set to debut in late 2020, Disney Genie will be an innovative new digital offering just for Walt Disney World guests. Creating customized itineraries geared to foodies, families, princesses, and more, this new program will help guests to create their optimal Disney day.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
The Chinese Theatre in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open to guests once again in 2020 with the debut of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This attraction will be the first major Mickey-themed ride-through attraction to open in any of the Disney parks, and it will put guests right into the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short!

Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge
Disney’s 16th Disney Vacation Club property, Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge will begin welcoming families in 2022. This resort will be inspired by the wonders of nature along with the artistry of Disney animation. Concept art for the new resort featured characters from Bambi and it was announced that this new resort would feature a Princess and the Frog-themed restaurant!

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
Walt Disney World will be home to an all-new Star Wars vacation experience, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. This new, first-of-its-kind vacation experience will allow guests to check in for a two-night adventure aboard a beautiful starship. Guests of all ages will have the chance to interact with characters, train like Luke Skywalker, and become active participants in the stories that unfold around them while onboard.

TRON Lightcycle Run
Magic Kingdom will be home to an exciting new TRON attraction called TRON Lightcycle Run. Just in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, this attraction will let rides board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles to experience TRON’s high-tech universe! This new attraction is set to open in Tomorrowland by 2021.

Epcot Updates
Epcot is the park with the most planned changes over the next few years. During the D23 Expo 2019, big plans for a multi-year transformation of the park were announced. From the new logo design to new neighborhoods and more, Epcot is in for a lot of changes! The start of these changes begins with the four new neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Discover, World Nature, and World Showcase.

World Celebration
Spaceship Earth serves as Epcot’s park icon and its attraction journey will be transformed featuring new scenes, narration, and storytelling. World Celebration will also feature new, breathtaking views from Dreamers Point. This area will have lush gardens, an interactive new fountain, a wishing tree, and a brand-new statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney. The new pavilion in World Celebration will become the home base for all of Epcot’s signature festivals and will be an ideal spot for witnessing the park’s new nighttime spectacular.

World Discovery
In the World Discovery neighborhood, Universe of Energy will officially transform into Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This family-friendly attraction will feature the first reverse launch into space and a never-before-seen storytelling coaster! The Mission: SPACE pavilion will also grow, offering a new restaurant experience for guests. Space 220 will open this winter with an out-of-this-world culinary experience!

World Nature
Within World Nature, Epcot will offer a new attraction inspired by Moana called Journey of Water. The new experience will let guests interact with magical, living water in a whole new setting. The Land Pavilion will also be featuring a new film, Awesome Planet which showcases diversity, beauty, and the dynamic story of the planet. This new film will begin welcoming guests in January 2020.

World Showcase
World Showcase will welcome the very first Mary Poppins-inspired attraction on Cherry Tree Lane inside of the United Kingdom pavilion. The China pavilion will offer a new film journey, Wondrous China which will feature a completely seamless 360-degree digital format. China isn’t the only pavilion getting a new film, though. Canada will debut their all-new film Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 in January 2020. The France pavilion will offer two new experience in 2020. Starting in January 2020, guests can take part in the new Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along opening at the France pavilion. Later that year in summer 2020, the much-anticipated Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will open as well as a new restaurant called La Creperie de Paris.

As you can see, there’s a lot of change to look forward to around the Walt Disney World resort. With its 50th anniversary right around the corner, the next two years for the Most Magical Place on Earth are looking very bright.
