Food for Thought

The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays at Walt Disney World runs every day from Nov. 18th through Dec. 30th in 2018. The event features special entertainment highlighting how the holidays are celebrated in different countries around the world. You can experience wondrous sights and sounds throughout the park, as well as festive eats around World Showcase. It wouldn't be an Epcot festival without the food! We've got your foodie guide to this year's top new dishes to try during this joyous event.

Hand-Carved Smoked Ham from American Holiday Table
Sure to evoke fond memories of grandma's kitchen around this time of year, American Holiday Table at the American Adventure features traditional favorites. The returning classic, Slow-Roasted Turkey, is back again. This little feast on a plate features turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and cranberry sauce. Joining the menu for the first time is the new Hand-Carved Smoked Ham, served with green beans and sweet potato casserole. For dessert there's the Chocolate Pecan Tart covered in whipped cream and whisky caramel sauce. To wash it all down you can partake in a holiday beer flight, classic eggnog or a nice toasty cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows.

All-New Dishes from L'Chaim Holiday Kitchen
This year's brand new holiday kitchen located between Morocco and France, L'Chaim celebrates classic Jewish fare with a little New York flare. The standout here is sure to be the Pastrami on Rye with house-made pickles and fresh deli mustard. Enjoy a side of Potato Knish with herb sour cream and a hot bowl of Chicken Matzo Bowl Soup to go along with your deli-style sandwich. Try the classic Egg Cream as your drink from this new holiday kitchen. Despite its name, this non-alcoholic beverage features neither egg nor cream, but is a delicious holiday staple that's like a slightly fizzy chocolate milk.

Turkey Poutine from Refreshment Port
Located at the edge of the Canada pavilion is the Refreshment Port. In additional to their regular year-round offerings, this quick service window is also offering a unique holiday specialty. The Turkey Poutine is like a complete Thanksgiving dinner, condensed into Poutine-style snack form. This dish consists of sweet potato fries that are topped with turkey gravy, cheese curds (in true Poutine form,) as well as cranberry relish and a sprinkling of crispy onions. This one may be so good, it could become a new holiday staple in your home after you try it at the park. Enjoy it with their Eggnog Shake, available with or without Bailey's Irish Cream.

Holiday-Inspired Croissant Doughnuts at Taste Track
A new favorite around the Epcot festival circuit, are the croissant doughnuts, (also known as cronuts,) and this time they're all decked out for the holiday season. You can find these yuletide masterpieces just outside of the Test Track ride at the Taste Track booth. You can't go wrong with the classic Croissant Doughnut topped with a layer of chocolate and red and green holiday sprinkles. Or, if you're feeling super jolly, you can try the Croissant Doughnut topped with eggnog-flavored pastry cream and gingerbread crumbs. Enjoy a frozen Pancake Milkshake on the side for the complete experience!

New Favorites from Feast of the Three Kings
The Feast of Three Kings holiday kitchen, located in World Showcase Plaza, is one of the more popular booths each year. This year, the popular booth is boasting an all-new lineup of dishes inspired by El Dia De Los Reyes Magos: Three Kings’ Day. Feast like a king on hearty dishes like the Pastelón, which is a heaping helping of sofrito-marinated beef served with sweet plantains. Sample the delicate Queso Fresco-Stuffed Arepa topped with shrimp and crushed avocado aji. Be sure to save room for the decadent and delicious creamy Tres Leches Rice Pudding topped with pumpkin seeds. Wash down your royal meal with a Tropical Eggnog, available with our without alcohol.

Plus, don't miss out on the colorful holiday cookies available from many of the holiday kitchens this year. Get your passport stamped with each cookie you buy, and you'll earn a free one after your fifth purchase! It wouldn't be the holidays without cookies, after all.
