IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth has been lighting up the night sky at Walt Disney World’s Epcot for almost 20 years. The show has been wowing guests for almost two decades, creating a nighttime park tradition in its own right. Sticking to Walt Disney’s motto to “Keep Moving Forward,” Disney will be replacing the fireworks show at the end of summer in 2019.
This fireworks spectacular debuted at Epcot in October 1999 as a part of the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration. The spectacular includes show-stopping music, fire torches, fireworks, and more! It’s a must see for any Disney goer who visits the resort’s second theme park. Although Disney has announced this legacy will be coming to an end, they’ve given guests enough notice to come back to Walt Disney World to experience IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth one last time if they wish!
The change of the nighttime fireworks show comes as a part of Disney’s multi-year transformation of Epcot. Although no official news has been released on what type of show will be replacing IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth in summer 2019, we do know that the new nighttime spectacular will debut immediately after the conclusion of its predecessor.
With new intellectual property-inspired attractions popping up around the park between now and Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, it’s safe to expect that this new and improved nighttime spectacular will feature a few Disney intellectual properties of its own. As we grow closer to this iconic milestone for Walt Disney World, it’s very easy to get caught up in all the Disney excitement!
So whether you’ve seen this spectacular more times than you can count or have yet to experience it, be sure to make your way to Epcot’s World Showcase before the end of Summer 2019 to take part in this piece of Disney history before it’s gone for good.
