The new year is here and it’s time to celebrate what excitement is to come in this new decade. With the 50th anniversary of the Most Magical Place on Earth only one year away, there is a lot of magic making its way around the resort in 2020. Should you visit Walt Disney World this year? Here’s 10 reasons to make the trip!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Just last month the most anticipated attraction in Walt Disney World’s newest land, Rise of the Resistance, opened to the public. This advanced and first-of-its-kind attraction completed the planet of Batuu, allowing guests of all ages to live their Star Wars adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! If you haven’t had the chance to experience this newly-completed land, 2020 could be the perfect time to check it out.

Regal Eagle Smokehouse
One of the first new experiences to open in this new year is the Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue restaurant in World Showcase at Epcot. Located in the center of World Showcase at The American Adventure, this spot is expected to serve barbecue favorites from around the country. From Texas beef brisket sandwiches to North Carolina chopped smoked pork butt and Kansas City smoked chicken, there’s something for every barbecue lover on the menu!

Drawn To Life
Spring will bring the debut of the all-new Cirque du Soleil Show Drawn to Life at Disney’s shopping and dining district. This show will take guests on a journey where drawings come to life straight from an animator’s desk! Preview performances start in March and tickets are already on sale, so don’t forget to grab yours before you plan your 2020 Disney vacation.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
The very first Disney ride-through attraction featuring your favorite mice will be open before you know it! Set to open March 4, 2020, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will take guests right into a Mickey cartoon where anything can happen. This all-new attraction will be found inside of the Chinese Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, right in the center of all of the movie magic!

IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth ended its two-decade run at Epcot in 2019, which means a new nighttime spectacular for the park is coming this year. In fact, HarmonioUS is said to debut as the largest nighttime spectacular ever created for a Disney park! This new show will feature custom-built LED panels, pyrotechnics, choreographed moving fountains, floating set pieces and more. Keep an eye out for the official debut date of HarmonioUS in this new year!

Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Toy Story Land will be welcoming a brand-new table-service location in 2020. This immersive restaurant is the perfect place to toys to rustle up some grub on their way into or out of Andy’s Backyard. Make your way back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this year so you can experience this new BBQ spot for yourself!

New Epcot Films
It’s no secret that Epcot is currently undergoing a major overhaul, and their films at various attractions are no exception. Starting January 17, 2020 guests can experience Awesome Planet in the Land Pavilion in Future World, Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 at the Canada Pavilion, and a Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along at the France Pavilion! The first film takes guests on a 10-minute journey featuring in-theater effects and an original musical score by Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price. Canada Far and Wide in Circle Vision 360 replaces O Canada! with a new score by Canadian composer Andrew Lockington and narration by Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy! The new Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along is narrated by Angela Lansbury, the original Mrs. Potts, and asks guests to participate in this twist on a tale as old as time.

Space 220
Future World’s newest restaurant takes the idea of “Out of this World” cuisine to a whole new level! Space 220 is set to open in Epcot later this year, and as you enter this one-of-a-kind restaurant, you’ll board a special elevator that takes you 220 miles above Earth to a space station. You can’t experience this type of dinner view anywhere else, so try to grab a reservation this winter when Space 220 has officially launched!

Mickey Shorts Theater
Just in time for the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opening, a new Mickey Mouse-inspired theater will also open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Starting in March, guests can make their way into the Mickey Shorts Theater to watch an original cartoon short featuring Mickey Mouse himself and even some special photo opportunities!

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Guests can shrink down to the size of Chef Remy and journey through Gusteau’s kitchen in Epcot’s highly anticipated new attraction. This will be the first attraction to join the World Showcase lineup in a long time, finding a proper home in the France Pavilion. This new area of the pavilion will also feature a new table-service and quick-service option for guests, La Creperie de Paris! Both will open this summer, so get excited.

As you can see, this new decade is off to a great start! So don’t wait until 2021 to experience all of the new magic at Walt Disney World. Start planning your dream vacation today!
