Two horror icons from the 1980’s - Chucky and Killer Klowns From Outer Space - will come to life as scare zones at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 28. The other scare zones include Vamp 85: New Year’s Eve, Twisted Tradition and The Harvest.
Revenge of Chucky
The 1980’s horror flick, Chucky, which features a Cabbage Patch Doll of sort, who becomes possessed with the soul of a serial killer, Charles Lee Ray, will “carve up some horror” at this year’s event. This zone will feature murderous monkeys, deadly board games and other possessed toys from your youth. This isn’t the first time Chucky has made an appearance at a Halloween Horror Nights. In 2009, Chucky: Friends ’till the End haunted house was as horrifying as you’d imagine.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Killer Klowns From Outer Space is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, so it is only fitting that it gets a scare zone at Halloween Horror Nights 28. The horror film is a hidden gem of the 1980’s horror scene with aliens that just so happen to look like carnival clowns who are here to harvest humans. At this scare zone, guests will be taken into the Killer Klowns’ circus-tent domain, which offers the smell of cotton candy, the aliens’ main method of preserving human bodies. It’s as silly and demented as it sounds.
Vamp 85: New Year’s Eve
One of Universal’s three original scare zone concepts, Vamp 85: New Years’ Eve is a sequel to Halloween Horror Night 2016’s Vamp ’55 Scare Zone. 30 years later, vampires invade again, but this time during the biggest party of the year. As the ball drops, blood-sucking monsters attack.
In Twisted Tradition scare zone, Universal has taken the popular symbol of fall and Halloween - the pumpkin, and turned it into a grotesque nightmare. The jack-o-lanterns in this scare zone won’t bring you any fond memories of your youth. Instead they will make you scream when you realize they are fused together with rotting human flesh.
Here is your word of warning: never enter a barn on Halloween. The Harvest scare zone will take those who dare inside a barn, which houses props and images for each of the 10 haunted houses at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. As if that wasn’t scary enough, the barn is populated with “foul and decrepit creatures” that are looking to reap a harvest of flesh and screams.
