Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando made quite the noise last week. From new foods to haunted houses and speedy cars, here are just a few of the things you may have missed from Orlando theme parks last week:
Water Parks Now Open - Spring has sprung which means Orlando water parks are now open for business. Last week we announced that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, Aquatica and LEGOLAND Water Park were all open and ready for splashes. Universal’s Volcano Bay will soon join when the park opens May 25, 2017.
Volcano Bay Foods - Speaking of Volcano Bay, as the park gears up for its debut, Universal has released some more details about the foods that guests will be able to enjoy in between rides. There will be four restaurants at Volcano Bay, all of which will have an island theme. The restaurants include Krakatau located at the base of the massive volcano, Whakawaiwa Eats serving up pizza, Bambu located in the Rainforest Village area of the park and featuring burgers and the Featuring Frog offering a variety of tacos.
Satu’li Canteen - While we’re on the subject of food, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has also announced some new food items that will be available when Pandora - the World of Avatar opens May 27. Satu’li Canteen will offer health-conscious dishes including customizable bowls. It will also be the first Disney restaurant to offer Mobile Order, an app that lets guests order and pay for meals without waiting in line.
Fast & Furious Cars - Fast & Furious fans can now see some of the supercharged cars from the newest film “Fate of the Furious” at Universal Studios. The park has welcomed three of the cars from the film including Dom’s (Vin Diesel) Ice Charger, a 1970 Dodge Charger with a high-speed Hellcat V8 engine, Roman’s (Tyrese Gibson) 2004 Bentley GT, and Letty’s (Michelle Rodriguez) Rally Fighter. The cars are located in the San Francisco area of the park.
Halloween Horror Nights House Announced - Last week, Universal Orlando announced its first Halloween Horror Nights haunted house. The annual scare fest will welcome back American Horror Story with new content from Season 2: Asylum, Season 3: Coven and Season 6: Roanoke. The park will use their biggest maze to bring this horror to life! Halloween Horror Nights begins September 15 and runs through November 4.
