Theme Park News

Universal's Volcano Bay is Orlando's newest water park, and it's filled with some of the tallest and fastest water slides in the world. It's also a great place for relaxation because the TapuTapu wristband does all the waiting in line for you. Just tap it to a kiosk and it lets you know when it's your turn to ride. That way you can wait while doing things you want to do, and not by standing in line. Here are 10 tips to get the most out of your day at Volcano Bay!

Get an Early Start
The best way to maximize your day at Volcano Bay is to arrive before it opens in the morning. Arriving early allows for time to park at the garage and grab a shuttle to the park. Then you'll be able to experience some of the more popular slides with little to no wait!

Head to the Back
While everyone is crowding around the front of the park you should head towards the back. There are more lockers and chairs there and it's much less trafficked. That way you can get to the rides faster without having to wait in a line to rent a locker. On your way there, tap your TapuTapu to the Krakatau Aqua Coaster kiosk to reserve your spot in line!

Find Your Home Base
You can grab some chairs near the back of the park or on Waturi Beach overlooking the wave pool to use as your home base. Set out your towels and refillable drink mugs and you're ready for a day of fun. For an extra charge, you can upgrade to Premium Seating that gives you some shade and your very own lock box to place your valuables in right on the beach.

Consider Renting a Cabana
If your family is looking for a little more privacy (and a lot more luxury) consider renting a cabana for the day. Relax in your own private paradise with shade, comfy seating, your very own personal concierge service and more. The best part is that you can reserve your ride times right there on a touch screen without ever having to leave the cabana! Talk about convenience.

Reserving Ride Times
Tap your TapuTapu to a kiosk at a ride to reserve your spot in line. Your wristband will tell you how long you have to wait and when it vibrates you'll know to head back. The Krakatau Aqua Coaster can usually garner the longest waits so be sure to grab that one early. Other attractions that fill up fast are Honu, Ko'okiri Body Plunge and the Kala & Tai Nui body slides. Sometimes rides will show as "Ride Now" and that means you can ride them without tapping!

What To Do Between Rides
There's still so much to explore and experience when you're waiting for your next virtual line time. You can hang out in the wave pool and lagoon pools or float down one of the two rivers. Play with interactive water sprayers using your TapuTapu (regardless of your age.) Or grab a fun snack like the colorful Waturi Fusion ice cream made up of 4 flavors! For guests 21 and older there's two boat bars with incredible mixed drinks and non-alcoholic frozen beverages for the kids.

Ditch the Wallet
You can synchronize your credit or debit card with your TapuTapu wristband using TapTu Pay! That way you won't have to keep going back to your locker every time you need to make a purchase. To save time you can set up your account before you even arrive at the park using the Universal app.

Eat Early or Late
The park's restaurants are much busier between noon and 2:00 PM, when everyone else is usually eating. That's why it's always a good idea to have your meals early or later to avoid the crowds. There are several places to grab some grub, but The Feasting Frog offers some of the best food around. It's easy to spot this little hut because it's shaped like a frog! Their specialty is the taco sampler and the lines are often shorter here than the bigger places.

Don't Let a Little Rain Get You Down
The Florida weather is unpredictable to say the least, but don't fret if it starts raining. Find some cover to wait it out because it might pass in a short time. Grab yourself a tropical drink or a yummy snack and kick back. The wait times are usually much lower after a storm clears so you'll have the park to yourself.

Stay on Site
By staying at one of the hotels at the Universal Orlando Resort, you can get into Volcano Bay much faster. Cabana Bay Beach Resort offers a walkway right into the park since it's only next door and the other resorts offer complimentary shuttles. The biggest bonus is that guests staying on-site get into the park an hour early!
