The weekend of the D23 Expo 2019 announced lots of changes for Disney parks, movies, and beyond. During the Disney parks panel, theme park changes for Disney parks across the globe were announced but one park promised the most change. Over the next few years Epcot will undergo the largest theme park transformation of any Disney park in history, and today we’re breaking down every change for you to look forward to!

New Neighborhoods
Future World will be no more. Instead, this half of the park will be transformed into three separate neighborhoods. World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature will cover what was once Future World, and World Showcase will continue under its existing name.  These neighborhoods will be filled with new experiences, all rooted in innovation and authenticity that will take guests to new destinations.

World Showcase
Starting in January 2020, Canada will host a brand-new film within its pavilion. Canada Far and Wide in Circle Vision 360 will feature new scenes and a new story that you won’t want to miss!

China’s current film, Reflections of China will also be replaced in the near future. The new film, Wondrous China will take Epcot guests on a journey across the country in a completely seamless 360-degree digital format.

Beauty and the Beast will come to France in the form of a new sing-along experience starting January 2020. In summer 2020 the highly-anticipated Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will begin taking guests on a wild adventure through Gusteau’s restaurant. Along with this new attraction, a new restaurant, La Creperie de Paris, will open offering both table service and quick service options for guests.

United Kingdom
Guests will soon be able to walk down Cherry Tree Lane thanks to the first-ever Mary Poppins inspired attraction coming to the United Kingdom pavilion. Not much information about this new attraction has been released, but the adventure will begin once you enter the Banks family home, Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane!

Starting October 1, 2019, the limited-time spectacular Epcot Forever will replace IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth in Epcot. Once Epcot Forever has completed its run, it will be replaced in 2020 by HarmonioUS, which is said to be the largest nighttime spectacular created for a Disney park! This new show will feature custom-built LED panels, lights, pyrotechnics, massive floating set pieces, and more.

World Celebration
This neighborhood will offer guests new experiences that connect them to one another and the world around them.

Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth remains are the park icon, but the journey inside will transform. With new narration, a new musical score, and a focus on the power of storytelling to unite the human experience, Spaceship Earth will be an exciting new attraction to experience.

Dreamers Point
As you exit Spaceship Earth, Dreamers Point will offer guests a breathtaking new view of World Showcase. This area will also feature a new statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney. Dreamers Point will also have a wishing treat in an enchanted forest, a story fountain, and more.

World Nature
This new neighborhood is dedicated to preserving and understanding the beauty of the natural world. Here guests will find The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilions.

Journey of Water
The first attraction to be inspired by Moana will be coming to the World Nature neighborhood. This interactive exploration trail will invite guests to play with magical, living water. The water will have a mind of its own -- just like The Ocean in Moana -- and guests will learn about the importance of the natural water cycle.

Awesome Planet
The Land pavilion will welcome a new film, Awesome Planet starting in January 2020. This film will showcase the beauty, diversity, and dynamic story of the planet!

World Discovery
The final new neighborhood is all about science, technology, and intergalactic adventures come to life.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
The new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction finally has a name -- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This attraction will feature all-new innovation from Walt Disney Imagineering, including a storytelling coaster that will rotate 360 degrees! This will also be the first Disney coaster to feature a reverse launch.

Space 220
The Mission: SPACE pavilion will also gain a new experience in the form of a new restaurant. Space 220 will be an unmatched culinary experience that features the celestial panorama of a space station. These views will even include daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles high. Space 220 will open this winter and is operated by the Patina Restaurant Group.

PLAY! Pavilion
After almost 20 years of sitting abandoned, the previous Wonder of Life pavilion is reimagined into the PLAY! Pavilion. This new pavilion will be open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary and in this digital metropolis you’ll engage in interactive games, experiences, and activities. Featuring some of your favorite Disney characters, both real and virtual, the PLAY! Pavilion will be fun for guests of all ages!

The best part about this upcoming transformation of Epcot is that you won’t have to wait long to be able to visualize these plans for yourself. Starting on October 1, 2019, Walt Disney Imagineering will present the Epcot Experience inside of the Odyssey Events Pavilion. Here you’ll be able to participate in interactive exhibits that help to drive the excitement of this park’s future changes. So next time you visit Epcot and the Most Magical Place on Earth, don’t forget to stop by the Epcot Experience to learn all about Disney’s largest theme park transformation in history.
