Something epic is about to hit Orlando. Universal Orlando is working on a new theme park called Epic Universe that will double the size of the brand’s property in Florida.
It will be the fourth Universal Orlando park after area-existing theme parks Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay. recently announced a fourth theme park, Universal’s Epic Universe is coming to Orlando.
An opening date has not been announced but Universal did say on their blog, “Universal’s Epic Universe will offer an entirely new level of experiences that will forever redefine theme park entertainment. Guests will venture beyond their wildest imagination, traveling into beloved stories and through vibrant lands on adventures where the journey is as astounding as the destination.”
The new park will be located on a 750-acre lot just a few miles from the existing Universal resort in Southwest Orange County.
It will feature an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants and more.
"Our new park represents the single-largest investment Comcast NBC Universal has made in its theme park business and in Florida overall,” said Brian L. Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast Corporation in a statement. "It reflects the tremendous excitement we have for the future of our theme park business and for our entire company’s future in Florida.”
Universal’s current attractions are based around the company’s blockbuster films and franchises like Jurassic Park and ET as well as the Harry Potter-themed world.
Tom Williams, chairman and CEO for Universal Parks & Resorts, said in a statement that Epic Universe "will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created.”
