Manatee Adventure by Real Florida Adventures
Real Florida Adventures has planned an action-packed itinerary that brings you one with nature and Florida’s unique West Indian manatee on the Manatee Adventure. The day starts with an inclusive breakfast and overview of your journey before making your way to the beautiful Crystal River on the Gulf Coast, 80 miles north-west of Orlando – Manatee Capital of the World. This is the only place in America where it’s legal to swim with manatees. Here you’ll find stunning natural springs and lots of wildlife before the signature Manatee Snorkel, under the supervision of a Coast Guard Certified Captain*. Get up close and personal to the West Indian manatee beneath the crystal-clear water.
Then, jet off to the 210-acre Homosassa Springs State Park, where you’ll find local wildlife, including the endangered Florida panther, black bears, red wolves, bobcats, alligators and birdlife. Plus, experience Nature’s Fish Bowl, an underwater observatory built over the mouth of the main spring, where fish swim and where the park has its own manatee rehabilitation program. Lunch is included here, too, before ending the day with an exciting airboat ride on the Withlacoochee River, where you’ll skim the waters and soak in natural wonders.
*Please note, any person wishing to do the manatee swim must rent a wetsuit prior to boat departure. Snorkel equipment is provided free.
