Miniland USA features several themed areas, all made from LEGOs. The areas here include the Daytona International Speedway, Florida, the Kennedy Space Center, Pirate’s Shores, California, New York, Washington, D.C., Las Vegas and LEGO STAR WARS. Considered as the heart of the park, it took LEGOLAND more than 20 million bricks to construct these nine Miniland USA areas. Here are some fun things you might find in each area!
Daytona International Speedway: Find LEGO cars racing around a track with more than 750 miniature LEGO people in the grandstands. There’s even a victory lane, and if you listen closely, you can hear the sounds of cars zipping around the track!
Florida: In the Florida display, look for an area dedicated to Key West, including a replica of the Southernmost Point in the United States, Duval Street and Mallory Square; the Florida capitol building in Tallahassee (complete with a marching band out front); and the national historic landmark Bok Tower Gardens, which is located in Lake Wales, Fla.
Kennedy Space Center: This area of Miniland USA includes a shuttle launch area, astronaut training session area and a Rocket Garden.
Pirate’s Shores: This section has a full-fledged pirate theme as two pirate ships battle it out in swashbuckling fashion.
California: Journey from San Francisco down to Los Angeles with iconic landmarks along the way, including Pier 39, the Golden Gate Bridge, Grauman’s Chinese Theater and more!
New York: This replica of the Big Apple has many enchanting features. Be sure to check out Times Square (complete with yellow taxis), the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station, The Empire State Building, Guggenheim Museum, the Bronx Zoo and even Rockefeller Plaza, complete with real water jets shooting up from the fountain!
Washington, D.C.: Spot the First Family and the First Dog of the country at the White House, and many other D.C. landmarks are also represented, from the U.S. Capitol Building, the Smithsonian and the Washington and Jefferson Monuments. There are even cherry blossom trees located throughout to authenticate the area.
Las Vegas: No Las Vegas-themed area is complete without the famous Las Vegas Strip! Many of the city’s famous hotels are represented, as is the legendary “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign. And, in true Vegas fashion, check out the miniature wedding chapel and listen in to hear the sounds of the city.
LEGO STAR WARS: Seven of the most famous scenes from the “Star Wars” movies are depicted through more than 1.5 million bricks. With interactive buttons located throughout, you can even activate animations and re-live your favorite moments in some of these incredibly detailed displays.
